New management taking over the hotel felt that the décor was outdated. A few structural changes were made but the biggest revamp was in interior decorating, with the hotel now sporting a new look and feel, but still in line with the Spanish theme.

Situated at the banks of the Elands River in the foothills of the Drakensberg, Malaga Hotel is located near Waterval Boven and features an outdoor pool, spa and conference facilities.

Offering a balcony with garden views, the air-conditioned rooms come equipped with satellite TV, tea-and-coffee making facilities and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath. The more spacious suites have a separate seating area.
